February 2008: Michael den Hertog Gallery closes.

Since March of 2001, abstract painter Michael den Hertog operated his own gallery in an open-studio environment on Granville Island in Vancouver. In 2003 he was joined by photographer Gillian Lindsay (to visit her website, click here). Together they ran the gallery for another five years. Although they had enjoyed being part of that creative community and had prospered for their efforts, they found the demands of running a gallery was taking its on toll their creative energies. When the lease came up for renewal, Michael and Gillian decided to step out of the role of shopkeepers and return to making art full time in the privacy of their home studios.

Michael continues to sell his work through the White Rock Gallery, who has represented him since 2005. Gillian is represented by the Buschlen Mowatt Gallery in Vancouver.
